DUH Mole Shifts (Weekend) Handoff

Compiled by Jasmine Arrington-Okoreeh, MD

Schedule

PGY-3 DUH Mole shifts on Saturday/Sunday are 7 AM – 5 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Active service (see AP/NF handoff for more details).
  • No Midwife support on weekends.
  • Round Antepartum service and split list with APPs. If list longer than 16, ask Chief on Nights to help with rounding.

APP Coverage on Weekends — per Abby Hunkins

“As APPs we like to be the continuity of the team. The same APP works Monday–Wednesday and another works Thursday–Sunday.”

Therefore, on Friday, before they leave for the day, they assign themselves half of the list. Their goal is to round on the most stable of AP patients (if possible), as they do not pre-round. This would be a patient with a plan in place, not a new admit and not someone off the unit (unless the APP has assigned themselves to the patient on Friday after discussion). They have talked and discussed with the week’s primary team to decide who these patients are, so DO NOT change the assignments.

End-of-Shift Sign Out

  • APPs leave at 3 PM, so receive sign out on AP service and hold the pager until sign out while also managing Active service.
