#Mastitis, infectious v non-infectious
- Unilateral, ?fever, ?systemic signs, symptoms persisting >12-24 hours
- ***No evidence of fluctuance (abscess)
- Discussed conservative measures, including:
- Warm compresses
- Encouraged use of different positions, manual expression to empty the duct
- Continue breastfeeding / pumping
- Washing hands before and after breastfeeding.
- Prescription for *** written today.
- Instructed to return to clinic if symptoms worsen or do not improve within 48 hours, as this may be refractory to medical management and she may need ultrasound-guided drainage.

Dicloxacillin 500mg PO QID x 7-10 days***
Cephalexin 500mg PO QID x 7-10 days***
Due to concern for MRSA, Bactrim DS or clinda BID x 7-10 days***
